Naturone - EPILEPSY 10/05/2010
Q My daughter started throwing epileptic fits after she started puberty. I am convinced these are connected to her hormones? Sally's Comment: Yes, Epilepsy starting in puberty may well be due to hormonal imbalance. There is certainly a lot of hope for your daughter's epilepsy if it is an oestrogen dominant epilepsy ... i.e. it started as she went into puberty. Progesterone has amazing results with this type of epilepsy. Supplementation with a natural progesterone for these children is vital. If she is stressed her need for progesterone will increase, as the stress hormones that are manufactured from progesterone, deplete her progesterone levels at this time. She must therefore double the dose during stress. She will soon be able to wean herself off her drugs. I must emphasize that for the first month or so she will go through a detox of oestrogen, and until she has done this she should stay on her drugs. The release of this oestrogen that has been lying dormant on the receptor sites will increase the oestrogen dominance for a while. My recommendation is to double the recommended dose for the first 2 weeks at least. Add Comment |
