Best alternative to HRT ..Natural Progesterone

Natural progesterone is the mother hormone from which a myriad of hormones can be synthesized in the body when and where they are needed. (including oestrogens). This therapy allows the body’s innate intelligence to manufacture exactly what the body needs. It is a non-invasive, natural way of dealing with imbalances that have now been caused primarily by our toxic environment with all it’s endocrine disrupting chemicals. Natural progesterone is a wonderful treatment to apply from the moment of peri-menopause and used throughout menopause and thereafter.

It is at the peri-menopause stage of life that our hormones are truly out of balance. Oestrogen should always be in balance with it’s antagonist, progesterone, which is secreted in large amounts during ovulation. When ovulation ceases (peri-menopause) so do progesterone secretions stop. This results in serious “oestrogen dominance” with it’s symptoms of bloating, weight gain, high blood pressure, mood swings, allergies, migraines and memory problems to name the worst.

Progesterone’s effects in the body are to restore the balance and with that many symptoms of this imbalance will disappear. Eg. It is a wonderful diuretic, thus very helpful in reducing oestrogen dominant weight gain, and normalising blood pressure due to fluid retention. Progesterone is beneficial to thyroid function, bear in mind that oestrogen inhibits thyroid hormone action, it helps prevent osteoporosis in a manner that complements oestrogen. While oestrogen prevents bone breakdown, progesterone actually promotes bone rebuilding by stimulating the osteoblasts (the cells that create the bone fabric itself). In the brain, progesterone concentrations are up to 20 times higher than in the blood. Progesterone has a soothing effect. Chemically, it has the same effect as valium or xanax or some anesthetic agents. It also exerts a lesser neurovascular effect in decreasing migraines caused by oestrogen. It can promote sleep and counteract edginess, anxiety and panic. It contributes to the lessening of the memory problems seen with low hormone levels. It evens moods.

It is this therapy is a safe natural alternative to hrt, it does not just treat symptoms but gets to the underlying cause of the imbalance and brings the body back to balance and therefore promotes healing in all areas..
